The African Higher Education Ranking Observatory is dedicated to defining, measuring, and elevating academic excellence across the continent.
Our History and project
- Mars 2024: Conceptualization
Idea conceived during the creation of the online media platform Universitesactu.cd, where we conducted a pilot mini-ranking of a selected group of universities.
- October 2025: Methodology Developement
Collaboration with experts to create the 7-pillar system.
- March-Mai 2026: Official Launch
First pilot data collection with 50 universities of Kinshasa.
- 2026: First Public Ranking
Publication of the comprehensive 2026 African University Rankings.
Core Objectives
- Establish an independent, credible ranking system specific to African contexts.
- Promote transparency and data-driven governance in higher education.
- Highlight excellence in teaching and student success.
- Foster intra-African academic collaborations.
- Align university outputs with the UN SDGs and Agenda 2063.
